The personal data we collect

Apply for a course or ask about job placement support

Depending on how you interact with us, this may include your name, email address, phone number, any details you enter about your background or the course you’re interested in, and technical information such as your IP address and browser type.

How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

Respond to your enquiry and get in touch about courses and job placement support
Manage your booking or enrolment if you sign up for a course
Send you information you’ve asked for
Improve our website and services
Meet our legal and regulatory obligations

Our legal basis for this is usually that it’s necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (e.g. responding to a course enquiry), or our legitimate interest in running our business and marketing our courses effectively. Where required, we rely on your consent, for example for certain cookies or marketing communications, and you can withdraw this at any time.

Comments

If you leave a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once a comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside it.

Media

If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading ones with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Essential cookies: to make the site work, such as remembering that your browser accepts cookies, and (for logged-in users) keeping you signed in.
Comment cookies: if you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name, email and website in a cookie so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These last one year.
Login cookies: login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last a year. If you tick “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes your login cookies. Editing or publishing an article sets a cookie with no personal data, holding only the post ID, which expires after one day.
Analytics and advertising cookies: we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site, and the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertising and to build audiences for that advertising. These tools may set cookies and collect data such as pages viewed and actions taken on the site, and share this with Google and Meta. Where legally required, these cookies are only set with your consent, which you can manage through our cookie banner or your browser settings.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you’d visited the other website directly. We don’t sell your personal data to third parties.

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on their compliance with UK-approved safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to keep your data protected.

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve genuine follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them for moderation.

If you register on the site, we store the information in your profile for as long as your account is active. You can view, edit or delete this information at any time, except your username. Website administrators can also see and edit this information.

Enquiry and course application data is kept for as long as needed to respond to you and support your training and placement, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you get back in touch, unless you ask us to delete it sooner (subject to any legal or regulatory retention duties we have).

Your rights

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments or made an enquiry, you can ask us to:

Send you an exported copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correct any inaccurate data
Erase your personal data
Restrict or object to how we use it
Transfer it to another provider (data portability)

This doesn’t cover data we’re required to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Comments are checked through an automated spam detection service. Enquiry data is processed by our website hosting and CRM/email tools, and by Google and Meta as described above.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date.
